Recycling the River Tees: A community celebration  

Recycling the River Tees is an environmental initiative bringing together local artists and young people to explore the river's significance. Flowing through Tees Valley, the River Tees connects communities in both work and leisure, shaping the region's heritage and future.     

Art inspired by the River  Tees

Young participants collaborated with the Canal and River Trust and the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust to create artwork and writing reflecting the river's natural beauty, industrial history and environmental challenges.  

Tees Bridges  

KS2 students from High Clarence Primary School worked with artist Bub Bacon to study the bridges spanning the River Tees and create their own using recycled materials.   

A River for Recreation   

Artist Adele Catchpole met with the rowing club and created artwork inspired by their experiences.  This exhibition highlights stories from: 

  • Tees Rowing Club 
  • Tees Water sports Centre 
  • Infinity Boat Club  
  • Tees Valley Dragons 
  • River Tees Swimmers
