Exciting changes are happening at Preston Park

We’re nearing the final stages of our ambitious transformation of Preston Park Museum & Grounds. These improvements are set to create an inspiring visitor destination where family and friends can come together to play, learn, and explore our rich local heritage.

While our staff work hard to undertake the final fit out works, the museum will be closed from Saturday 26 July, reopening on Saturday 13 September with an exciting exhibition programme, set to be announced very soon.

The refurbished play area, Park Café and new toilets will be open from Saturday 26 July.

What’s planned?

A new two-storey extension to the museum, creates space for national exhibitions and to showcase more of the museum’s collection, transforming Preston Park into an inspiring visitor destination. Wider park improvements include, a refurbished and new toilets, including a Changing Places Facility.

How is it funded?

This is being funded by the £20million of investment from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government. Other investments include Yarm Town Centre, Yarm Town Hall and improving connectivity between Yarm and Eaglescliffe.
