FAQs

  • What impact will the new development have?
      • Any construction work will be carefully considered to ensure minimum disruption for our visitors.
  • How much will it cost to build?
  • The whole project will cost £12.5 million.
  • Will the museum be open during the work?
  • We are aiming to keep the museum open throughout the construction period although some areas may be inaccessible for certain periods of time. All information about the impact of the development will be regularly updated on our website and social media channels so please check before making a special journey to visit us. Some level of disruption is likely, but we will work hard to minimise the impact for visitors.
  • Are you extending annual tickets beyond 12 months if the museum experience is reduced?
  • We don’t expect the construction to have a major impact on the visitor experience, so we are not planning on extending annual tickets.
  • Can I still visit the park while the building work is happening?
  • Yes, there will always be car parking spaces available throughout the project, however spaces may be reduced while work is being carried out. Always check our website for more information before travelling.
  • Will you increase admission prices?
  • The museum offer will be greatly enhanced with additional gallery spaces, open collection stores and new exhibitions. As we have not increased our admission prices for six years, it’s likely they will be reviewed and increased. We will always strive to ensure that any increases are reasonable and provide great value for money.
  • When will the building work be completed?
  • The current proposal would see the whole site complete by spring 2025
