The museum
A bold and modern extension to the existing museum opening in summer 2025
- Large two-storey building will be connected to the existing Victorian Street, it will include a large, flexible exhibition space and open collection stores
- The new spaces will make it possible to bring renowned, nationally significant exhibitions to the region for the first time
- As well as allowing hundreds of unseen objects to be put on display from the museum’s collection. Visitors will be able to get up close to more objects and discover stories that are important to the people of Tees Valley.
- New café with views over the Walled Garden and orchard
- Improvements to the existing museum and Victorian Street
The park
A better park for everyone
- Improved café and new toilets, including accessible ‘Changing Places’ facilities
- An additional 100 car parking spaces
- New interpretation to highlight the Stockton & Darlington Railway story along the original historic line
