Meet Anne and Judy
We’re grateful for our amazing team of hard-working volunteers that give up their precious time to support us and make a difference to the life of the museum and grounds. Anne and Judy volunteer in the museum’s Winter Garden and can usually be seen looking after the stunning plants in our Victorian conservatory. We caught up with the duo to find out more.
How long have you worked as volunteers?
Both of us have volunteered at Preston Park Museum for about 9 years.
Why do you like volunteering here?
We’re passionate about plants and enjoy being in the Winter Garden. It’s a lovely conservatory.
What do you do on a typical day as a volunteer?
We water and feed, cut back and repot. Houseplants are a lot of work and need to be kept in the right conditions.
What is your favourite plant in the Winter Garden?
Anne: My favourite plant is Mother of Thousands. It’s part of the kalanchoe plant family. It’s an amazing plant and looks very unusual.
Judy: My favourite plants are the orchids but I love the Bird of Paradise too as it reminds me of New Zealand where my daughter lives.
