Join us for the Making a Mark: Colonel Spence’s War workshop
Join Elizabeth Baker from ‘Tillytoo Tales Storytelling’ as she tells a range of stories inspired by the trench paintings in our collection. These will give students a different perspective on the experiences of local man Colonel Spence and his comrades in World War I.
Through the stories, characters are given a voice, using documentary evidence and archive material from the period. Students will also have the opportunity to handle real artefacts and view the watercolours, which will inspire their own short stories.
For a small, additional cost of 50p per child, students can also create their own clay poppy to take back to school, inspired by those displayed at the Tower of London.
The workshop lasts approximately 2 hours.
Suitable for Key Stage 2.
£50 per workshop (up to 30 children), plus £1.50 museum admission charge per child (All prices are external of VAT. VAT will be added where appropriate.)
