Limited availability left for this weekend
If you are coming to the museum this week, we are now fully booked until the weekend and only limited availability left on Saturday and Sunday. We are very sorry if you have been unable to book but due to Covid-19, we have had to severely restrict the number of visitors to the museum and safety has to come first.
Thank you for your understanding.
This October half term, pull on your wellies and explore our Autumn Scarecrow Trail. We need your help to find the scarecrows and solve the challenges dotted around our Woodland Welly Walk.
You can also play in our mud kitchen, build a den or simply enjoy the beautiful autumn leaves.
How to book
All visitors must pre-book their museum visit (including annual pass holders). We are now fully booked until this weekend, and only have limited availability left on Saturday and Sunday. If you are unable to select a date or time this means that unfortunately, it is fully booked.
Once you have booked your visit, the trail is included and you do not need to book anything additional.
You are not allowed to visit the museum in a group of more than 6 people.
How much is it?
It’s free with your museum ticket. All of our tickets can be used as many times as you like throughout the year. You can see our museum admission prices here.
Where will it take place?
In the woodland area at the back of the museum. The woodland can be accessed via the museum so you will need to purchase a museum ticket to enter and pre-book your visit here.
Is it suitable for pushchairs/wheelchairs?
Our Autumn Scarecrow Trail will take place along a woodland path so expect un-even surfaces and mud. There is an incline at the entrance/exit of the walk, so may not be suitable for all pushchairs/wheelchairs. There will be space to park your buggy nearby (please be aware that any items are left at your own risk and the buggy park will not be locked/supervised).
What should we wear?
Please dress appropriately for the weather. We recommend wearing wellies, waterproofs and clothes you don’t mind getting muddy.
Are dogs allowed?
No unfortunately only assistance dogs are allowed as the Autumn Scarecrow Trail takes place within the museum grounds.
Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Additional safety measures
Before exploring the Woodland Walk please read our safety advice below:
- Please sanitise hands before and after using the Woodland Walk
- Follow the one-way system and keep a safe distance from others
- The Woodland Walk follows a path through a natural wooded area so watch out for stingy plants and spikey brambles
- Wear appropriate clothing and footwear that you don’t mind getting muddy. We recommend covering arms and legs.
- The path is uneven and the play equipment may become slippery when wet
