Rainbow of hope
We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who created an egg for this year’s Eggshibition.
It is with great sadness that we have been unable to open this amazing piece of community art for you all to see but we hope you enjoy looking at these pictures (and hopefully spotting your egg!).
This year we have received more than 1,500 decorated eggs, made by local schools, volunteers and community groups. The egg designs include a variety of cracking ideas, from ‘Egg Sheeran’, ‘Hagrid from Harry Potter’ to ‘First Egg on the Moon’. The theme is colour with a huge rainbow centerpeice and we hope that it spreads a little bit of rainbow joy in these difficult times.
Spreading a little rainbow joy
Although we are disappointed that the Eggshibition is closed to the public, we can still celebrate the work of the children, volunteers and community groups that created this beautiful rainbow display. It comes as rainbow pictures are springing up in windows across the region to spread some hope during these challenging times. We would love to see your rainbow pictures. Please share them on our Facebook page.
Getting crafty at home
We hope that sharing the images will inspire people to get creative while schools are closed and children are learning at home. It is important that we look after our mental wellbeing during this time. Taking up new hobbies, being creative and learning new things are just some of the positive things we can in the safety of our homes. While the children are off school, craft activities are a great idea for keeping the family entertained.
Our team are working hard behind-the-scenes to make sure that we can still be there for visitors and the local community – sharing stories and photos from our collection and resources and activities people can take part in from home.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our exhibition and created an amazing piece of community art. We look forward to welcoming visitors back to Preston Park & Grounds when we are able to re-open again.
We would love to know what you think of our Eggshibition. Share your comments and pictures of rainbows on our Facebook page here.
